Why is blogging important to your business?

I hear a lot of comments about how blogging doesn’t benefit businesses and it’s a ‘diary’ or ‘journal’ for people. That’s not the case at all and if you have a business with a website, you NEED to be blogging!

Don’t get confused, we’re not talking about personal blogs. We’re talking about business blogs or news pages with company news, values and helpful information regarding your associated industry.

You may be asking – how does a blog actually benefit my company? Let me explain. It’s all about using blogs as a marketing tool.

We all know how important ranking highly on search engines is, don’t we? Your customers won’t just happen upon your website, you need to drive visits by creating content.  Each time you write a blog, you’re creating what’s called an indexed page which will create more opportunities for your website to turn up as a result in searches.

You’ve probably heard of SEO which stands for Search Engine Optimisation, and this centres around optimising any copy you write to ensure it has maximum impact for search engines to pick it up. Don’t let this put you off if you’re writing yourself – any fresh, informative and relevant content you produce will be useful in improving your search rankings.

Any blogs that you do write, should be shared to social media.

This can allow other people to share it and improve your reach even further. The bonus of a blog, is that it will keep working for you over time – what you post tomorrow will continue to be viewed in years to come, leading customers back to your website.

The most important element to remember when blogging – always include a call to action.

There’s no point driving all of this traffic to your website if you don’t end up converting leads into customers and the way you do this is by giving them a number to call to solve their problem, a form to fill in and provide further information or a free tool they can utilise.
